The students from Gilgit-Baltistan & Chitral (GB&C) held a cultural and musical event at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad, on 24th October, 2014. The event was part of annual programs that the students arrange each year days before Gilgit-Baltistan Day (Independence Day of Gilgit-Baltistan). COMSATS Islamabad campus has about 80 students from across Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.
The program included various traditional skits, dance performances, a folk-tale play and singing performances. Islam Habib, a much talented musician cum singer from the Hunza valley, was also invited.
The event organizers seemed happy about the turn out of audience. Shahbaz Ali Khan, President of Gilgit-Baltistan Students Forum, thanked the audience who were mainly students of COMSATS, Islamabad as well as COMSATS alumni hailing from Gilgit-Baltistan.
The 3-hour long program was later followed by outdoor musical dances upon huge demand from students. The band settled in a landscape just outside the university cafeteria where even more audience enjoyed the traditional tunes and dances of Gilgit- Baltistan & Chitral.
